What is an MRI?
MRI images are formed when signals emitted by body tissue are turned into clinical images. These signals are captured using a safe magnetic field in combination with radio waves of a specific frequency. Different tissue characteristics are translated into different contrast levels on the image.
Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital – First Colony is one of the only facilities in our area to feature an open MRI scanner. While traditional MRIs require the patient to lie down in an enclosed tunnel, the open MRI is open on all sides, allowing for a much more comfortable experience.
