About Pain Management

Unlike physicians who specialize in specific diseases or specific systems in the body, pain management doctors focus on a single symptom: pain.

What Is Pain Management?

Pain is the most common symptom that brings patients to doctors’ offices, and the cause is not always clear. The pain may be related to a specific injury, or it may arise from less obvious sources, such as infection or inflammation.

Pain management physicians are specially trained and experienced in

  • Evaluating pain symptoms
  • Helping to diagnose the cause of pain
  • Managing the pain while the cause is being treated

Pain Management Treatments

The pain management specialists at Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital – First Colony have been trained in the most current approaches to treating all varieties of pain, including

  • Medications
  • Trigger point injections
  • Physical therapy
  • Surgical pain-controlling implants
  • Advanced nerve blocking techniques
  • Mind-body therapy
