Hugh Ker Thomson, M.D.
Medical Director
Dr. Thomson received his bachelor’s degree from Washington and Jefferson College and his medical degree from the University of Texas. Following his internship in general surgery at UTMB Galveston and his residency in anesthesiology at UT Health & Science Center Houston, Dr. Thomson served as an instructor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical in Dallas. He has served the people of the Greater Houston area at numerous local hospitals and also in private practice.

Jay Pinsky M.D.
Medical Director
Dr. Pinsky received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin.  He then earned his Medical Degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH before returning to Texas.  He completed his residency training in Anesthesiology at the University of Texas-Houston in Houston’s medical center.  Dr. Pinsky has worked as a private practice Anesthesiologist for over 12 years; and in that time has performed thousands of nerve blocks to prevent postoperative pain in patients getting a variety of surgical procedures.   In his free time, he enjoys golfing, and spending time with his wife and 3 children.

Daniel Smith, MBA
Chief Executive Officer
Dan Smith has over 25 years of experience in health care finance and operations working in the for-profit health care sectors as both a Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer.  Since joining Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital First Colony in 2012,  Mr. Smith has been an active leader in the community organizations including the Fort Bend Education Foundation where he serves as a board member.   He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Alabama and a Masters of Business Administration from Texas A&M Commerce. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two Girls.

Elizabeth (Betsy) Clark RN MSN CPHQ
Chief Nursing Officer
As Chief Nursing Officer of Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital First Colony, Ms. Clark oversees hospital-wide clinical operations including strict adherence to all regulatory guidelines. Bringing over 30 years of hospital health care experience, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Management from Western Governor’s University. In her spare time, she volunteers for the American Red Cross as an Inland Disaster Heath Services Team member.

Brent Janss, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer of Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital First Colony, Mr. Janss oversees all financial operations and administrative staff. Mr. Janss previously worked in EY’s Healthcare Assurance group, reviewing the financial operations of some of the largest healthcare systems in the country. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in Accounting and Management Information Systems in addition to a Masters in Professional Accounting at University of Texas. Mr. Janss is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas.
